The Ciena 176-23A0-900 is a WaveLogic 5 Nano (WL5n) Type A.0 CFP2-DCO coherent pluggable transceiver — Ciena's second-generation "Standard" DCO designed for multi-vendor interoperable metro and regional DWDM networks. Unlike direct-detect IM-DD modules, this coherent optic uses dual-polarization QPSK/8QAM/16QAM modulation with embedded DSP to transmit up to 400Gb/s on a single wavelength over standard C-band ITU grids. It supports 100G, 200G, and 400G line rates with programmable baud rates and Probabilistic Constellation Shaping (PCS), delivering carrier-grade reach from tens of km (DCI) up to 1000km+ with external EDFA amplification. Compliant with OpenROADM, OIF 400ZR/OpenZR+, and CMIS standards, it interoperates with Ciena 6500/5400/8192 platforms and qualified third-party router/line-system hosts. This is a coherent DCO module — it is NOT a direct-detect 100GBASE-LR4/ZR4 module and must be paired with a coherent-capable port on the far end.
